Art and Nature: SpaghettiWall presents different worlds at Milan Design Week 2025, which overlap and intersect to create an alternative universe, with other expressive and decorative possibilities. ‘This year, our collections offer references to the modern and contemporary artistic repertoire, combined with echoes of the reworked natural element,’ comments Federica Borgobello at the helm of the brand, ’we like to play with memory, with images that stimulate distant sensations, that transport us to different places and times. Offices, hotels, residential and public projects are our blank canvas for experimenting with visual codes’.

Giorgio Biscaro, designer, art director, lecturer, publisher and entrepreneur; Castello Lagravinese Studio, art direction & product design for international brands; Filippo Mambretti, product designer, and SMIT, the creative agency led by Cristian Malisan are some of the protagonists of the new collections.

Castello Lagravinese with ‘Supernatural’ creates a decorative pattern made of light and matter, elegant, poetic, played entirely on bright and pure tones: the textures of the chosen subjects burst out on a grand scale, and the detail becomes the protagonist. Also Federica Faleschini with the ‘Pattern’ collection investigates the matrix, the original structure of the elements that break down before the eyes of the observer and – identified and catalogued – are re-proposed in a measured expressive gallery. ‘Organic’ is the analysis of living matter, fragmented at the cellular level; “Balance Lines” the simplification into graphic signs of a wooden game, drawing on childhood memories. Finally, ‘Linear’ is the chromatic transposition of a code that rhythms the surface with an apparently random pattern, but perfectly controlled in succession.

The artistic repertoire from the Renaissance to the 20th century describes Filippo Mambretti‘s ‘AlterEgo’ collection and traces a parallel, dreamlike reality poised between vintage and modern. Solid colour fields frame faces inspired by old school tattoos, details linked to the world of fashion intertwine with realistic architecture but transposed to another context.

The metaphysical approach is also common for ‘LAND and MET’, designed by SMIT, which claims silent, motionless landscapes, devoid of human presence: in ‘MET’ the settings are rarefied, crystallised in an absolute time. ‘LAND’, the second subject of the collection, proposes instead abstract compositions, with organic patches of soft colours: layers of signs, fading and trails in burnt tones combine to create an imperfect aesthetic, faded by time.

Giorgio Biscaro chooses contemporary symbolism, with pictographic colour-blocks, reminiscent of the Bauhaus: in ‘BauAhh!’, however, the geometries and compositional order are subject to a profound reworking, in which each element is maximised, deliberately hyper-decorated, and interacts with a precise grid. SW Lab‘s ‘Pigmenta’ collection continues this research and draws on abstract expressionism, dripping, textured brushstrokes, 1970s atmospheres and oriental repertoire to offer a complete anthology of inspirations, centred on abstract subjects and the plant world. Finally, nature is Chiara Diluviani‘s choice for the ‘Secret Gardens’ collection: vegetation is the silent protagonist and appears on the wall through classically inspired arches, with transparencies, perspectives and shadows.
